Planning Phase
I still remember that when I first time know about this course is when the first briefing session of Social Engagement a day before my first mid sem break of first semester in University Malaya. To be frank, I was so surprised that a course that non-academic orientated exist in any university. I think it was a great idea to let students aware of their responsibilities towards community and learning variety of skills outside of study league.  Initially, I was stressed because I had zero experience on social engagement activities planning. Fortunately, the suggestion from our experienced supervisor, Dr Ong Lin Dar to visit Home of Angels in Broga made me felt secured. My first impression towards our group’s leader, Lei Yee was introvert, but she was totally proactive during our implementation phase and even always willing to take any extra job. I felt grateful as all of our members cooperate well despite being different department. Being a head of logistic department for the first time allow me to experience the process of transportation booking and some relevant knowledge.  I feel proud to contribute well for transportation as well as bringing my own car for my members’ convenience.
Current Stage
I was so struggling to study for my Microeconomics and Accounting mid-term test which happen to clash with our project’s first day and I will be in charge for the second trip some more. Leaving during peak hour was definitely not a good idea and this made us to take rest until 8pm. before continuing our journey. Although tiredness hit me hard as a driver, but I felt grateful to reach the destination safely. A whole new day of our Social Engagement second day, we only start to contribute. During the project, I experienced hiking with the kids, eating together with them, guiding the program prepared by P&P department, and some fun times with the kids.

I also get experienced in preparing vegetarian food with my friend, Myra, Shu Ying and Marion especially the chef in kitchen with passionate personality that always share cooking tips and create fun environment.

When the moment we wanna leave, a child hold my hands hardly, look at me and say ‘ don’t leave me, jie jie ( sister ) ’ this makes me feel so heartbreak and found myself was so lucky because the closest people is always there for me to give me accompanion. However, I felt anxious as the van booked got lost and unable to arrived on time. Fortunately, we manage to arrive at UM safely even with all those challenges.
Ending Phase
I was really delighted for this activity as I learnt a lot of new lessons and being inspired. In my opinion, I think it is important to have a good family planning and preparation in marriage because a broken family affect the child’s life so much. No matter what happen, always try to be a useful and better person in order to prepare yourself to lead your helping hands for who is really in need and because the feelings of contributing is normally better than getting.

There are no points to focus on a single bad person or thing in this world because outside world may be better than you think. Be positive and kind. This types of voluntary works is a good way to help a person find their own value and escape from negative emotional and i would like to appreciate all the authority involved for making this course compulsory.
