Planning Phase
I have been assigned to be in the multimedia and technical department. Thus, as the name suggests, I have been given the responsibility to provide entertainments such as movies and songs for the children. I downloaded 3 songs for the children to do morning exercises. On top of that, I have also downloaded a few singing and dancing song for the children to play during their leisure. Not only that, but i have also downloaded a few moral short movies that have moral values so that the children can relate to the video and take the moral values as an example to help them to become a better person as they are growing. For the night time before the children hit the sack, I have also prepared a few movies as an entertainment for them such as The Smurf and The Lost Village.
Current Stage
The other 4 members and I took a grab and arrived at the Home for The Angels on Friday morning. As soon as we have arrived, we were welcomed by a teacher there. She introduced the place to us by telling us a little bit about the place. After putting my things into a room, I started off by helping Kak Su, who is a worker there to prepare lunch at the kitchen. After done eating, I offered Kak Su to help cleaning the kitchen by mopping the floor. After that, I went upstairs and helped to clean up the toilet and also mopped and swept the entire first floor before I took a rest.

At the evening, I spent my time with the children downstairs and watched the movie with them for a while before going to bed. During the second day, we went hiking along with the children while taking care of them. After that, as soon as we reach the Home of the Angels, I mopped and cleaned up the toilet and the balcony on the first floor again. After taking some rest, I went downstairs and helped the principal to make Pau while chatting with her. After dinner, I helped clean the kitchen and chatted with some of the children. On the last day, I helped the principal to arrange the tables and chairs and also helped to carry some boxes of bottles from downstairs to the hall on the first floor. After that, I went to their library to play with the children there and read some comics.
Then, I helped to rearrange all the books at the bookshelves according to its language. Before leaving, we were told that new visitors are coming so I had to clean up the toilet again for the last time. When I was there, I had difficulty to communicate with some of the children there as most of them are Chinese and can only speak in Mandarin. Only a few of the children are able to speak in Malay and English language. So it was a bit difficult for me to handle the children as they were not able to understand my orders. Despite that, I was able to make a friend and chat with some of the boys there. Hence, I spent most of my time cleaning and helping the workers there more than spending time chatting with the children.
Ending Phase
The most important lesson that I have learned from joining this project is that I have learned to be more grateful. I should be grateful that I am living together with my family under the same roof because all of the children that were sent there came from various family backgrounds. Some of them are orphans, some had abusive parents and some of their parents are not able to afford to take care of them. Despite that, they are still cheerful and appreciate what they have. I had never once noticed them complaining to their teacher especially about the food. I hope that the children can grow and become a successful person regardless of their background. In a nutshell, I have learned that in order to be a happier person, I have to focus and appreciate what I currently have instead of thinking about what I want.
